I admit I was never a big fan of working during naptime.

Naps were always unpredictable things with my kids. And I felt like as soon as I really got going on a project I’d be interrupted by a cranky, half-awake child.

Yet I know many work-at-home moms are far more productive during naptime than I ever was.

My kids no longer nap unless they are sick. But the fact that naps eventually go the way of diapers is one reason to be careful about planning your work schedule around your child’s nap.

Eventually, your child will drop his or her nap, so it is important to start preparing for the day by encouraging independent play activities and setting work-at-home ground rules.

Of course, technology has improved since then. If you’ve never submitted your home business profile the old way, you still can. However, now there’s an even better way to do it, by way of a new feature on About.com called “Show and Tell”.

Over the objections of Republican Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky, the New York Times reports that the Senate has passed a temporary jobs bill that includes a brief extension of Small Business Administration stimulus provisions.

The final bill passed on a vote of 78-19. It reauthorizes the expired 90-percent guarantee on the S.B.A.’s general business loans through March 28th. It also eliminates borrower fees for both the 7(a) and the 504 loan program with a $60 million appropriation. In addition to the SBA loan program extensions, the bill includes extensions for jobless benefits and Medicare payment rules.

I saw a daffodil poking its way through the ground this week. Yes! Spring is coming. Never mind that the tiny spot of green was in the shadow of a disgusting, blackened snow bank. Spring is coming.

After being snowed in for more than a week, I am ready for spring. But one of the first orders of business for spring is planning our family spring break. We are not planning a family spring break trip or anything that exciting, but I think we will take some time off and take advantage of all the fun things to do in our city.
